The Level 3 Coastal Kayak Trip Leader Award is a new program being offered by the ACA. During this 3-day training and assessment, candidates will demonstrate their own on-water leadership and group management skills, and be exposed to new concepts and techniques for safely managing a group of sea kayakers while exploring tidal coastal environments. Successful candidates will develop and demonstrate skills to properly plan trips, choose venues, assess a group's abilities, manage play, and resolve problems that arise in ACA L3 Coastal Kayaking conditions (10-15 knots wind, 1-2 foot seas, 1-2 foot surf, 1-2 knots current). All candidates will leave with a comprehensive action plan for continued development of their leadership and personal skills. More information about the L3 CKTL program can be obtained here.
(Candidates must pass an ACA L3 Skills Assessment prior to participating in this assessment.)
