  • 198 Jewett Rd Georgetown, ME, 04548 United States (map)

This Level 3 Coastal Kayak Trip Leader Award is a 4-day combined training and assessment, jointly offered by Nate Hanson, Todd Johnstone-Wright, and the Saint Michael’s College Adventure Sports Center. Candidates will be exposed to concepts and techniques for safely managing a group of sea kayakers while exploring tidal coastal environments.  Successful candidates will develop and demonstrate skills to properly plan trips, choose venues, assess a group's abilities, manage play, and resolve problems that arise in ACA L3 Coastal Kayaking conditions.  (10-15 knots wind, 1-2 foot seas, 1-2 foot surf, 1-2 knots current).  To provide candidates with authentic leadership experience we will involve practice students throughout the training and assessment. All candidates will leave with a comprehensive action plan for continued development of their leadership and personal skills.  More information about the L3 CKTL program can be obtained here.
