Managing Safety and Play in Rocks and Races

  • Pinniped Kayak Ellsworth, ME USA (map)

A tenant of my coaching philosophy is to teach for independence. I aim to develop paddlers who have the skills and judgment to play and make decisions safely in dynamic environments. This 2-day course will be aim towards three goals: expand personal skills in Tide Races and Rock Gardens, develop the judgement and abilities needed to avoid problems in those venues, and gain experience addressing capsizes, tough landings, damaged equipment, etc. We’ll support both of these goals by learning to read and work in concert with the water’s force, rather than fighting against all that energy.

This course is appropriate for paddlers who have had past experience in current/rocks/waves but are still refining their skills, and also for ACA L3/L4 Instructors and BC Sea Leaders/Sea Kayak Coaches who are honing their management of others in dynamic environments.

$320/person (2 days), includes equipment Register Here Contact us for details
