Join us for this 4-day Leadership and Guide Training course for paddlers who wish to gain the skills required to safely lead others on the water, and be certified as ACA Touring Kayak Trip Leaders (L2). American Canoe Association Coastal Kayak Skills Assessment (Level 3) provides paddlers with a benchmark of their abilities, helping you to ensure that you have attained a level of proficiency appropriate for paddling in a certain environment. The L3 Skills Award is a prerequisite for L3 Instructor Development Workshops (offered July 26th) and L3 Trip Leader Assessment (offered June 2nd).

Training to become an ACA-Certified Coastal Kayaking Instructor is an excellent way to formalize your own kayaking skills and gain the tools for effectively sharing kayaking with other paddlers. Nate Hanson (ACA L5 Advanced Open Water Instructor, L3 Instructor Trainer, L3 River Kayak Instructor) is offering an ACA L3 Instructor Development Workshop (IDW) at Pinniped Kayak. Candidates will leave with refined personal skills, an improved arsenal of instructional tools, and a personalized action plan to prepare for an Instructor Certification Exam (ICE) (e.g. Aug 10-11th). Click on course title for more details.
L4 Open Water Sea Kayak Instructor training is offered for existing L3 Coastal Kayak instructors who are prepared to expand their teaching skills into more advanced environments, and provide more effective and differentiated instruction in authentic paddling environments. Nate is excited to be partnering with Todd Wright (ACA L5 ITE, BCU L5 Sea, and Director of the Wilderness Program at St. Michael's College in Vermont) at Pinniped Kayak.
