During this 3-day sea kayak journey, we'll work together to build the skills required for multi-day kayak touring in a moderate coastal environment.  Departing from Stonington, we'll work together to select an itinerary that suits the weather, our groups interests and abilities, and our instructional goals.  During 3 days on the water, we'll have opportunities to practice cockpit navigation, improve our boat handling in wind and waves, and plan our travels to take advantage of currents and weather.  With 2-nights of island camping, we'll consider Leave No Trace principles, island access, wilderness cuisine, and basic trip planning.  (For more complete coverage of trip-planning and preparation, consider joining us two days earlier for our Trip Planning and Leadership course on July 2nd and 3rd).

This course is appropriate for paddlers who have learned rescues and basic boat-handling, and are capable of paddling up to 15 miles in a day in up to 2-foot seas, and 10 knots of wind.  To discuss whether this trip is right for you, please contact us.
