Sea Kayak Journeying - Marshall, Swans, and Long Islands

During this 3-day sea kayak journey, we'll work together to build the skills required for multi-day kayak touring in an exposed coastal environment.  Departing from Seal Cove (MDI), or Naskeag Point (Brooklin), we'll have access to the dozens of islands that stretch out to the south, along expansive Jericho Bay.  During 3 days on the water, we'll have opportunities to practice cockpit navigation, improve our boat handling in wind, current, and waves, and plan our travels to take advantage of tides and weather.  With 2-nights of island camping, we'll consider Leave No Trace principles, island access, wilderness cuisine, and trip planning.  (For more complete coverage of trip-planning and preparation, consider joining us for a Practical Navigation course as well).

This journey is appropriate for paddlers who are familiar with rescues and basic boat-handling, and are capable of paddling up to 15 miles in a day in up to 2-foot seas, and 10 knots of wind.  Those who have not had recent rescue practice should consider the Rescues and Bracing class being offered on September 11th.

$640 per person, includes all necessary equipment, and meals from Lunch on Friday through Lunch on Sunday.  Wetsuit/drytop provided - Drysuit rentals available for $30/day.
