One of Downeast Maine's signature attractions, the reversing tidal falls are areas of strong current created by the rise and fall of tides.  For sea kayakers, these areas provide a variety of conditions (bumpy water, eddy lines, moving water, smooth green waves) making them excellent classrooms for refining boat handling in a more challenging environment.  Click on course title for complete description.

Rock Garden Safari - Bois Bubert and Jordan's Delight

Along the Downeast Coast, about an hour east of Ellsworth, there is a cluster of islands with some of the best rock-garden play areas I've seen in Maine.  Because of the drive, we only get there a few times each year, and every visit feels too short.  After the July 15th Journey to Petit Manan Lighthouse to visit the puffins, you're invited to island-camp in the midst of this outstanding training spot, and spend the next day enjoying a course in these awesome rock-garden venues at a more relaxed pace.   Click on the course title for complete description.

Rough Water Rescues and Incident Mgm't - MDI

What will you do in a squall?  How quickly can you react to a capsize in rough conditions?  Can you deal with a medical emergency on the water?

Our philosophy of preparedness is that you only know what you can do in an emergency because you have actually practiced it.  This course will focus on performing rescues in difficult conditions, dealing with simulated emergencies that can arise on the water, and generally helping leaders who are responsible for others to ensure that they are as prepared as they can be to protect the paddlers in their groups.

As part of Pinniped Kayak's commitment to supporting a high standard for working Maine Sea Kayak Guides, we are offering a $105 dollar discount on this course for MASKGI Members.  This course is likely to fill quickly, and if possible we will add additional course dates.  Please register as early as possible.  Click on course title for more details.
